Henriette
I was born and raised in South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1997.
My parents are both very talented and I believe the love for creating art is in my genes. On my father's side were two well known South-African artists. My uncle Hendrik Diederiks was famous for his nature paintings and my aunt Cathy-May for her floral paintings. Unfortunately they both died at a very young age. My Uncle died in a hunting accident and my Aunt from a long sickbed. Their work is still an inspiration for me.
As a child I loved my colouring books and drawing pictures, but I never painted(although I built myself an easel).
After grade twelve I did all kinds of jobs. I even had my own daycare centre. Always creating everything but paintings.
It was only when I came to live in Canada that I started my painting career. I am a self taught artist who paints for fun , and by putting my work up for sale is my way of giving something of myself back to the world so everyone can enjoy it.
My second love is my poetry. I have started writing poetry when I was in school. It was mostly love poems as most young girls do when they are in love. At the moment, I write about an array of topics. As my motto in life is to see the glass half full, in stead of half empty, it reflects in my poetry. I hope all who read it will enjoy it.
